David Wilcox – Fireside Show #2

January 18, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

We're humbled and delighted to welcome back our friend David Wilcox for two fireside performances to brighten your post-holiday, mid-winter weeknights. Yes, fireside! We're moving from the living/dining room to the den, cozying up around the hearth, and presenting two intimate, one of a kind shows with one of the most gifted, admired, and moving singer-songwriters wandering the earth today. This shows will happen on Tuesday, January 17 and Wednesday, January 18. The suggested (minimum!) donation for these events is $50…

Melissa Greener

February 24, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

It's such a happy accident when the artists I'm haphazardly stalking suddenly request a show like I'm doing them a favor. Such was the case with Nashville-based Americana artist Melissa Greener, an electric-guitar-slinging singer and songwriter who caught my eye because of her collaboration with Folk All Y'all artists David Wilcox and Rebecca Loebe, as well as her songwriting partnership with the immortal Guy Clark. Her work is influenced by standard torch balladeers, the Laurel Canyon and Greenwich Village songwriter scenes of the…

Teneia

March 25, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

If you're not currently feeling like life is pretty glorious and everything's going to work out okay, then I suggest going over to your favorite music store (or mine) and listening to Teneia until you get your head right. Because I defy you to hear their post-modern-retro mix of folk-soul-blues-pop (po-mo-tro fo-so-blu-po?) without getting a smile on your face. This wife-and-husband duo is theoretically based out of Jackson, Mississippi, but they've spent most of the last year traveling the country in their big…

Daniel Champagne

April 13, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

I realize Daniel Champagne is not as well known in Memphis as in Melbourne, but I am wholly confident that once you take a listen, you'll understand exactly why I lost my damn mind trying to make this show happen. Because good gravy, he is something else. A vocal warmth and sensitivity that completely draws you in, songwriting so good it seems a little unfair, and fall-to-your-knees-in-awe musicianship. And the accent doesn't hurt, either.

Myla Smith with The Harmaleighs

May 13, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

From Shake Rag, Tennessee to Barney & Friends to a degree in Accounting, Myla Smith doesn’t fit any preconceived notions you have about singer-songwriters (okay, except the Shake Rag part), but if there’s anything we know in Memphis, it’s that you just never can tell. Myla’s spent the last decade winning hearts all over Memphis and beyond, with her latest release praised by Billboard and CMT. As the world gathers in our city to celebrate music from across the globe,…

John Elliott + Kelly McFarling + Logan Magness

June 17, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

John Elliott‘s first visit with us was in June 2014, before there was even an official Folk All Y’all to visit, and the experience was so wonderful that I wanted to repeat it as often as I could manage. So it seems only fitting that the person who started it all would be the one to celebrate our third birthday with us and usher in the next year of Folk All Y’all. I’ve been following his musical career since he was a footman…

Kevin Campbell

August 12, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

When I suggested that Kevin Campbell join my house concert network, that didn’t feel quite strong enough, so I followed it up with an offer to come play for us if he ever found his way out of L.A. Lucky for us, this apparent Angeleno is secretly Southern, and we were able to set up a show along his path home to Virginia. I can’t wait to introduce Memphis to his blend of folk, soul, and blues, all delivered with self-deprecating charm…

Charley Crockett

September 13, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, TN 38103 United States + Google Map

I'll admit that Charley Crockett caught my attention for a number of reasons - his raw, unique sound; the shockingly appealing combo of brass and banjo; the mix of traditional and modern leanings that form a whole new structure; and also, okay, because my nine-year-old son was doing a presentation on Davy Crockett that week. Charley Crockett's (fascinating) bio describes him as a blues singer, but also points out that he's been compared to artists ranging from Bill Withers to Gary Clark Jr.…

Garrison Starr

October 4, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all: Listening Room at DCA, 431 S Main St, Ste 302
Memphis, TN 38103 United States
+ Google Map

Much like the superheroine of her anthemic song, Garrison Starr shot straight up and outta here, and in the years since she haunted the Hi-Tone, she’s moved out to L.A., upped her album count to 15, wrote songs for a bunch of Hollywood stuff, got nominated for a Grammy, and inspired a lot of Smart Girls. But luckily for us, she loves Memphis as much as we love her, so we’re honored to present Garrison Starr as the first guest of our newly launched listening room…
