John Paul Keith

May 7, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

I don’t even know where to begin with John Paul Keith. Apparently his tremendous talent can’t be constrained to one thing – not heading a band as badass as the One Four Fives, or serving as a musical ambassador via Beale Street Caravan’s Made in Memphissegment, or bandleading Thacker Mountain Radio’s Yalobushwhackers, or partnering to create Motel Mirrors with fellow Memphian Amy LaVere. No, he does all that, and probably even more that I don’t know about, all while consistently cranking out songs that envelop and exhilarate the local scene, musical…

Cory Branan

July 10, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

So y’all, please welcome back to Memphis our own Cory Branan. Nashville may claim him now, but he’ll always be a Bluffer. And yeah, I said I was taking July off, but Cory will be nearby mastering his new record and I’m too old and tired to see him play anywhere else. So as a very special treat to open our 2016-2017 season, we’re going to host our first ever afternoon show. Let’s call it Sunday Branunch, shall we? So join us for…

Rissi Palmer

August 13, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

That's Rissi Palmer. Rissi describes her work as "Southern soul," which is as deceptively simple as each of those words on its own. Pulling influences from country to jazz to folk to rock to pop, Rissi's sound is a rich combination of cultures and perspectives. After releasing her debut album in 2008, she was featured in Ebony, Rolling Stone andThe Wall Street Journal and performing from the White House to the Grand Ole Opry. Her debut single, "Country Girl," put an African-American woman at the top of Billboard's Country chart…

Paul “Snowflake” Taylor

October 22, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

Paul has continued to invent and innovate, always adding a new layer to the Memphis music scene. He plays his ever-loving booty off gig-wise, but he came to us with a personal desire to perform for the kind of crowd Folk All Y’all gathers. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the respect and attention (and occasional absurdity) our setting can provide. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Paul will be playing songs from his first album, Open Closed, as well as tunes from from…

Gillian Grassie

November 19, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

I was semi-listening to the office Pandora station when I was struck by a voice and composition that stopped me in my trackstyping. I looked up the artist and learned that she’s an incredibly talented singer-songwriter who splits her time between the east coast of the U.S. and Germany. Oh and she plays the harp. The what? Yeah. Not the mouth harp, or those cute little Ren Faire lyre things. A big ol’ harp. And it’s so gorgeous, y’all.

Melissa Greener

February 24 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

It's such a happy accident when the artists I'm haphazardly stalking suddenly request a show like I'm doing them a favor. Such was the case with Nashville-based Americana artist Melissa Greener, an electric-guitar-slinging singer and songwriter who caught my eye because of her collaboration with Folk All Y'all artists David Wilcox and Rebecca Loebe, as well as her songwriting partnership with the immortal Guy Clark. Her work is influenced by standard torch balladeers, the Laurel Canyon and Greenwich Village songwriter scenes of the…

Teneia

March 25 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Folk All Y’all, Memphis, United States + Google Map

If you're not currently feeling like life is pretty glorious and everything's going to work out okay, then I suggest going over to your favorite music store (or mine) and listening to Teneia until you get your head right. Because I defy you to hear their post-modern-retro mix of folk-soul-blues-pop (po-mo-tro fo-so-blu-po?) without getting a smile on your face. This wife-and-husband duo is theoretically based out of Jackson, Mississippi, but they've spent most of the last year traveling the country in their big…
