Having spent the last 15+ years in Memphis, I’ve been hearing Bobby Bare Jr.‘s name for as long as I’ve been haunting either iteration of the Hi-Tone. He’s one of those songwriters that other songwriters talk about, and an all-around entertaining musician that fans are always quick to mention. Whether band-leading, striking out solo, or lending support to other artists, he’s a rare mix of one-of-a-kind talent and widely-appealing persona. So it is an incredible pleasure that Bobby will be joining us for a very special show this spring.

As if getting to hear Bobby Bare Jr. up close and personal weren’t enough of a reason to wander over on a Friday night, the generous Mr. Bare is donating his time on behalf of Manos de Madres, an international non-profit that helps women out of poverty through the principles of entrepreneurship, cooperation, creativity, and sustainability. Which, if you think about it, are also the principles of making a living as a musician.
